Class Field Trip

Class, imagine we are now observing a herd of cows in the pasture.  You see them standing there chewing, yet they have not bent down to take a bite in quite awhile.  They are ruminating, also known as "chewing the cud".

As Christians, we need to do the same.  Instead of regurgitated grass though, we need to be rolling the scripture over and over in our minds.  As we go about our day, we do not always have the Scripture available to read.  We need to pull it up from the recesses of our mind and think on how it applies to our lives.  In so doing, we add our part to the story of the Gospel.  A little part of us mixes into His story.

When we ruminate on the Word, we keep it from being forgotten (eliminated - we go no further with this analogy) and it becomes part of us.  As grass eventually builds the muscle tissue in the cow, and later the meat on the barbeque, the Word will provide fruit for ourselves and others as we share it with them.
